Some might be predictable, some can submerge unpredicted. Everything you thought was sure and stable may prove you wrong. Nothing is sure, nothing is stable. Everything is relative. Earth for instance, would be something that can’t move or shake. You would rely on it as the most stable thing in the world? Wrong! August 23rd our earth proved that everything is relative. You were at work, in the car or walking down the street and all of the sudden, the ground was waving, making you loose the gravity for a little while? How confused you were? The potty training experience

When I first thought about potty training of my twin girls, different questions came to my mind… When is the best time to do it? What to use: a potty or a special adapter seat? How long will it take altogether? Who will master the skill first: Pola or Maja? etc. Many people say that the best time for potty training is the summer because it’s hot and the child can play around bare-bottomed. Why do children love Christmas so much? Gifts, of course. When it comes to giving presents to twins there are a few things to take into account… Should you give them identical presents, so that neither would feel jealous? Should you give them one big thing or two smaller gifts? And all the other usual questions we normally ask ourselves, like ‘Is it better to buy toys or clothes… or maybe sweets?’, ‘books or dolls… or maybe wooden blocks?’, etc.

Whenever our friends consult us about the gifts for our twin girls, we recommend buying either one toy or two, but different ones. It’s good for the kids because they have greater variety of toys to play with, and it also teaches them how to share with others. I also advise them not to buy clothes, because I remember how much I hated getting such presents being a child myself. I prefer something which can help them develop their mental and physical abilities. And of course you have to make an effort to wrap everything nicely as for kids unwrapping presents is one of the most enjoyable activities in the world. At least for mine. First they look at the box, as if trying to figure out what’s inside, then they start to tear the paper slowly peeping underneath. The problem with Christmas presents is that kids get so many of them on one day that they aren’t able to appreciate them fully. Ours were overwhelmed. Too many stimuli to take in. They grabbed one or two things and played with that, ignoring the rest. So it’s a good idea to hide some of the toys and give them to your children gradually, one by one.

This year we ended up with 5 new teddy bears (I think now we have a nice collection of about 20 altogether), 4 dolls and of course other things. I shouldn’t be surprised because whenever someone asked them about the presents they would like to get for Christmas they always gave the same answers: one wanted a teddy bear and the other a doll. The floor in the living room was clattered with brand new books, soft toys, blocks, jigsaw puzzles, and there even was a scooter! It all looked like a display in a toy shop.

Thank God, buying presents for such small kids (around 2 yrs old) is still a wonderful experience as they don’t pay attention to the price of the toys and generally are pleased with anything they get provided it’s not clothes (unless it’s something with a favorite cartoon character printed on) or something way below or above their developmental level.

Blessing of being a mom of twins

Our twin girls, Maja and Pola, were born through caesarian section and I think it was a kind of gratification for the difficult time of pregnancy;) Talking about names… Choosing names for twins can be difficult. We tried to think of the two which would not be very different in terms of length or other qualities. We didn’t want them to clash (e.g. one very traditional, the other very modern). Pregnant with twins

We had been trying to get pregnant for a couple of months when I finally saw the desired two red stripes on the pregnancy test. I was over the moon. When during an ultrasound scan I was lying and staring at the screen which showed something that I was told was my uterus (it looked so vague that, for me, it could be anything in the world) for a few minutes (or were they seconds? Time is a tricky thing when we’re stressed) there was silence.
